Missing the Point
Over at the Corner, Ramesh Ponnuru misses the point of Atlas Shrugged sales completely.
People find the book compelling not because they believe it will save them from economic turmoil. There is, in point of fact, nothing in the book to even suggest such an outcome.
The book tells the tale of the downward spiral of an economy in the hands of people like our current Congress and Administration and how quickly things can unravel. It talks about how once things reach the tipping point the only viable action for liberty-minded people is to withdraw their productive talents from the world.
That is no recipe for personal prosperity but it might be for destruction of the Marxist philosophies and a return to first principles.
Hey, Ramesh, read the book, ok?
